For patients having a stroke, seconds can make a big difference in outcome. The Emergency Department at Waterbury Hospital which is right next door to Greater Waterbury Imaging Center is staffed 24 hours per day with a team of doctors and staff in order to respond as quickly as possible to patients experiencing a stroke because with stroke time lost is brain lost. Greater Waterbury Imaging Center is part of this process by ensuring we provide 24 hour on call Magnetic Resonance Imaging to accommodate the stroke team in the ED.

  • Availability of a dedicated Stroke Team in the ED
  • Ongoing education focused on stroke care for the staff
  • Providing annual training with local ambulance teams
