COMPARISON: None

TECHNIQUE: Multiplanar images of the right ankle were obtained at 1.5 Tesla without IV contrast

FINDINGS:

BONES: There are degenerative joint changes of the anterior and posterior subtalar joins and of the talonavicular joint. LIGAMENTS: No evidence of ligament rupture is seen. The collateral ligaments are intact.

SOFT TISSUES: There is fluid in the defect of the distal Achilles tendon rupture. No other localized mass or fluid collection.

IMPRESSION: Complete rupture of the distal Achilles tendon, avulsed from its calcaneal insertion and retracted proximally x 4 cm.
